In April 2023, Western Albemarle High School’s student newspaper The Western Hemisphere published “White Hall’s Autism Sanctuary,” an early look at our farm as a place where families can find day support, nature, and community.
Reporter Jack Steenburgh walked readers through the Enchanted Forest trails, cattle and chickens, indoor quiet space in the farmhouse basement, and the bee and pollinator projects then underway. Staff and WAHS student volunteers described why outdoor, flexible programming matters—especially for teens and adults with higher support needs who are often left out of other options.
We’re grateful to WAHS journalism for telling that story, and to the many Western Albemarle students who have volunteered on trails, gardens, and projects since those early days.
